My little one around six months

Greetings to all you moms of Summer babies! If you had a child in Spring/Summer, then things are probably beginning to settle down for you just a little bit. I remember that 3-month mark was a big milestone for us. A little more sleep, feeling a hint of a routine, and starting to get into the groove of  motherhood. When my daughter (now 5) was about 6 months old, I realized 1) we were spending over $100 per month on diapers and 2) we had tripled our volume of household trash.

Those two things were the inspiration for me to try cloth diapers, begin sewing my own, and ultimately, launch CuteyBaby.

Looking back, I still feel that around 4-6 months is the ideal time to try washable diapering if you are new to the idea. If you have other children, they’ll be starting school. You are (hopefully) getting a little more sleep than in the early days, and you can still save a couple thousand dollars (or more) by investing in a set of washables now.

Once you try washable diapering – especially if you use liner sheets – you’ll see it’s really no big deal. Doing an extra load of laundry every couple of days to save $2,000? You bet I did.
